Guess who just had a birthday?

We had a really great weekend, going to Nick's birthday party Friday night at his parents' house for dinner and cake. When that was over, we went to First Friday, which is an art gallery opening in the Crossroads Arts District. We hung out for quite a while on the balcony of the production company with which I most recently worked on a project. It was great getting a birds-eye view of the craziness down below, and also great to get to hang out with a bunch of really fun people. The weather was perfect and the galleries were packed, making me so proud of our little city and the leaps and bounds that the art community is experiencing.

On Saturday morning, we woke up nice and early for our usual Starbucks run, sitting and reading the newspaper together. We had some more time to kill, so we found ourselves down at the City Market, eyeing fresh fruits, vegetables, flowers and this guy. Then we went off on the Urban Homes Tour throughout downtown Kansas City, looking at some of the lofts that we haven't yet checked out. We didn't find anything that we liked any better than the ones we were initially leaning towards, so it helped seal the deal for us. Looks like we'll make our reservation first thing tomorrow morning, which is really exciting and really scary all at the same time. They won't be completed for over a year, so we'll just have to be patient and wait.

We spent the rest of Saturday at the Royals game for Nick's birthday and ate plenty of $1 hot dogs and bags of peanuts. It was awesome, and I don't really even like hot dogs.

On Sunday, we had the pleasure of babysitting our darling little niece at our house. We loved every minute of it, especially the minutes where she and I napped together on the couch. Then we celebrated Nick's birthday a second time with my side of the fam, and after they left we ordered Chinese takeout and stayed in all night.

Wow, that was quite a run-down of events, wasn't it? There's just one last thing I want to say, and that's happy birthday, babe.
