It snowed here this weekend, and of course that means that we had to go outside and play in it like we're little kids. It was the perfect type of snow for sledding, building snowmen and having snowball fights, all of which I'm happy to report we accomplished. We had to bundle up in our many layers of sweatpants, shirts, sweatshirts, knee socks, coats, hats, mittens and for Nick, puffy black snowboots that he bought for his Napoleon Dynamite Halloween costume several years ago. They are now officially broken in.
The first thing we did was go sledding at Nick's parents' house. They have a big hill in their yard that is perfect for such an occasion. We couldn't just go down it though. Nick and his brother spent a few hours engineering the ideal luge chute with snow shovels and plenty of determination. I volunteered as the brave helmetless crash test dummy, and I actually survived the day without any injuries, aside from a sore butt.
Once we were worn out from the construction and sledding, we went inside for my mother-in-law's famous hot chocolate. I'm not going to report how many mugs of that I drank.
We ended our fun snow day by going back home and making ourselves a snowman. Do you remember Gary? Turns out that some plastic hair, some giant ears and Groucho Marx glasses comes in handy for more than just a pumpkin. We created Gary's long-lost cousin, Hank.
Feel free to hang out for a while and watch the snow day slideshow below.
